Felt like a high budget movie, the abyss itself was enough to make me want to wish for 100 more episodes of this on the first episode.

Behold of my awesomeness~
controversial and/or sensitive topics likely devolve into the same repetitive, derogatory, abusive, and harassing comments can no longer be posted.

Secret Santa recommendation here.. ;P Was not sure, if I should watch this anime maybe for a couple of years or something.. I do like drama anime, even if not all of them, of course.. With serious topics, or feels, or stuff.. But on the other hand, anime seems to have a bit strange creatures as characters.. And I rarely enjoy animal characters as mains, with some exceptions here and there - like I liked Sonic, for example.. So yeah - was both interested and not too sure about watching this anime for some time.. But with Secret Santa event, surely will watch it.. ;P So, here we go, I guess..
So girl stole some kind of compass, which shows the way to the abyss, huh.. Well, sounds important..
So.. Are they like archeologists/looters or something?.. It also seems that girl is motivated for promotion or something like that..
That's a lot of houses.. So actually it's highly populated place, huh.. Thought it'd be story about deserted place or something.. But no - it's a huge city right there..
I won't be commenting on all things, though.. Even if some seem to be important or something.. Like red/white whistles, or other stuff..
So they're cave scouts.. Alright..
If they have elictricity, though.. Why they can't learn how deep is the whole?.. Unless something would be blocking/absorbing waves and stuff, instead of returning them.. Still, there are different ways to learn how deep it is as well.. Oh well, I guess, technology in this world works like this - some things are on our level, some on lower, some maybe on higher..
So far - not bad first episode.. Was afraid of too animal characters, but it's not the case in first episode, so it's not a problem, at least not for now.. As well as story is enjoyable for now.. That map in the ending, by the way, makes me think of The Edge Chronicles series ( https://duckduckgo.com/?q=the+edge+chronicles&t=h_&iax=images&ia=images ), which is a bit nostalgic, I guess.. Sometimes fantasy works have this dreamy feeling, of interesting world, and stuff.. Though, also many times it can go into some really distant themes from our lives as well, or have some other things.. Either way, for now - it's good episode, with anime having potential to go either way, really.. Will see more.. ;P

I finished reading 9 volumes of the manga a couple of days ago and now just started watching the anime.

I absolutely loved the manga, one of my favorites of all time. The art style, characters, story, and the world hits the spot. After watching the first episode, I just gotta say that...๐ˆ๐“.๐ˆ๐’.๐€๐๐’๐Ž๐‹๐”๐“๐„๐‹๐˜.๐…๐ˆ๐‘๐„.

They nailed on everything from the OST to backgrounds, I like the direction they're going at. 9/10 ๐“ฌ๐“ฑ๐“ฎ๐“ฏ'๐“ผ ๐“ด๐“ฒ๐“ผ๐“ผ

New rewatch time. Mushoku Tensei's rewatch was so great that I just needed another fantasy/adventure anime to watch and look no further than one of the first seasonals I ever watched in Made in Abyss back when it aired in Summer 2017 and the show went from sleeper to superstar status by the end.

This first episode was still strong. Not particularly for the characters and the interactions necessarily, but as a premiere, it did an excellent job in making me invested through so much world-building already just through scenic shots and the camera panning towards the center of the Abyss and zooming in rapidly. Defintiely a breathtaking world already with the perfect complimentary soundtrack imaginable for a show like this composed by Kevin Penkin. "Underground River", the song used for the opening credits in this episode and sung by Raj Ramayya (so underrated) was really pleasant and atmospheric and fitting for the intro of the show, and the music only enhanced the experience as a whole.

Only thing that I wasn't that into was the characters themselves, Riko being a bit too hot-headed and annoying at times and as a character(only likable for her curiosity for exploration) and Reg was... there too , others not that interesting to watch too. But at least the setting was well established already, and that's the star of the whole show more than the cast so I can allow it for the premiere. Really solid stuff from this anime so far.

This was impressive, first episodes are so important in my opinion as they are an attempt to hook the viewer into watching on and this was defo my case, I liked how they were explaining the origin of the abyss at the end of the episode and the mysterious outlets of the robotic kid and his place within the society of people living in the abyss. It will be interesting to see how he connects with the main character and others in the next few episodes.

From the very start, the very idea of what the Abyss was sounded appealing. Though I didn't know what to expect in the first few minutes, the action scene with the massive beast most of all helped establish the danger of the Abyss - and this is only 100 meters down.

The spectacle and atmosphere of the city of Orth is absolutely insane. The clumps of houses and buildings paired beside a jarring view of a massive hole is a very interesting sight to see, and definitely one of my favorite parts of this introduction.

While a few of the characters don't interest me, I'm mostly interested in Reg as well as the mean looking lady in the orphanage. She seems important for some reason; I feel like she'll play an important role later, antagonistic or not.

Very nice start, I'm interested to see what happens as Reg and Riko inevitably descend deeper into the almost unknown Abyss.

I loved it. The worldbuilding is beautiful and the visuals are great. Never read the manga but heard some spoilers, I wonder how could the series even end up that way since it started off like this

This was a nice introduction to the Made in Abyss world. Animation is Movie Quality and that OST in the end was so soothing and mesmerizing.

My 2nd watch of this masterpiece.

This is one of the first shows I watched when I got into anime. Whitefox does such a good job making this show, refreshing character designs, beautiful background art and animation, stellar sound tracks (Kevin is a legend), the insert song when Riko shows Reg the Abyss when the sun rises up combined with the detailed art of the city is simply divine.

Great OP too!
Anime is fun.

One of the best first episodes I've ever watched.
Lays out the mystery of what's to come perfectly and smoothly.
Just after the first episode I'm having so many questions,
First the most obvious one, What's in the abyss?
Second, where did the Robot like guy came from?
I also like when the first scene started it was like the story began like it was in the middle of the episode but then immediately it answered where they were going and what they were doing. This has the potential to go into my favorites.

The character art is really cute. I'm already so attached to them. The art and animation is gorgeous. Breath-taking sunset and awesome action scenes.

I love how the songs blend in with the show. Beautiful.

There's already some intense world-building.
Seems to be a few dark elements already, considering they're in an orphanage and working, sent out to excavate as children.

A lot of mystery too. Who is the 'robot boy'? What is the abyss? What's in there?

I absolutely freaking loved this.

The beginning of the adventure is the most adorable thing on earth especially Nat and Riko sticking around with each other and their relationship is the most interesting thing ever >w<! Riko mining reminds me of Minecraft. Holy that skeleton scared the heck out of me, I wonder what's the cause of their death!? Anyways their adventure really escalated to the rising point where The Crimson Splitjaw appeared ad Nat is laid unconscious D: But gotta give the praise for the animator because that CGI is immaculate to see :o and Reg!!! His face is sure bouncy xD

The OST playing is one of the most beautiful thing and glad that Nat is still alive <3<3 We do sure meet a lot of new character introduction like Shiggy and once again it did escalated really quickly and thus, the pacing of this show is fine by me. Honestly I expected that Director to have a deep sound because it's pretty hilarious to hear them talking with that guy looking appearance but it turns out to be a she my bad xD. Woah the class looks very interesting here and how it's structured is very unusual and rare. Also nervous Riko looks adorable but she's such a learner who wants to do what's best for her to get a concept of other people and in grinding -> developing a certain skill. Holy why's Reg getting electrocuted like it he's being executed or something 0-0, I need to learn more about Reg's capability because he did use some power to save Riko from that Crimson Splitjaw. Oh god Riko's plan to use electricity on the damn chair to wake up Reg was a bad idea and of course consequence is consequence especially affecting a blackout to all places ;-;

At some point I'm shipping Riko with Reg because they're too cute byeeee but we all know it ain't romance focus but anyways. Omg the other OST is beautiful please I need to put this on my playlist so I can study with it ;). Not gonna lie this particular to where the brightness sparks in always brings a lot of happiness and freedom for these characters. I'm looking forward to learning more about the Abyss other than the measurement and description of it which includes the history, the mystery behind to what's inside there, and other stuff :o The OP is so cute awh >w<

Even being fully aware with the impression this series has, this introduction still got me good. Already too many mysteries, and I can feel more coming up. But hey that soundtrack was top notch and so was the visuals. So not just a good but a great start.

Right off the bat, you can feel the dark undertones through it's sound effects and overall atmosphere despite the dialogue and animation style coming off as lighthearted.

The music!! god the 1st introduction track is some of the best I've heard in anime, so good.

I'm already getting feels of Haibane Renmei with this and I'm here for it.

I really like the scenery of the Anime, which is rich of colour and also of great style. I also like the pacing of the first episode, as it was neither too less information about what will await me, but also not so much that it would already kinda spoil the plot to me.

Very boring for the 1st episode.

The reason why I didn't pick up before was because of chara design. This one is gonna be hard to watch.

Gonna trust that the story gets better later and that I will get used to the design in future eps.

interesting, if technology is advanced enough where basic education led the children to boot back up the robot why do they not have more advanced technology to search the abyss more? who is this robot? why do they want to explore? is it just a big inactive volcano?
