The best band nobody heard about...
I remember when The Great Pretenders came out..best album of that year,amazing productions,amazing collaborations,amazing singles aaaaand...nobody heard it!
I will never understand why this band never got huge,they got everything going,they are real good.
In an interview a few years ago they asked Mike about Queens of the Stone Age and he said he will always put Queens first, so I presume he's probably spent more time on their stuff instead of promoting Mini Mansions and stuff, they still do heaps of stuff and sound amazing bit a lot of time would have to be spent with QOTSA, especially tours and stuff. I think he's content on MM being his side project
And then Tyler Parkford does stuff for everybody in the indie rock scene, Alex turner, queens, miles Kane- heaps more, and Zach Dawes has co produced Lana del Rey's last few records, I really wish that they'd tour more and stuff because they're so good

This is crazy, yet cool: last October when I went to see Interpol at the Hollywood Bowl, Alison from The Kills opened up for them. Two weeks later, I went to see Arctic Monkeys at the Hollywood Bowl too and Mini Mansions opened up for them. Nice to see these two underrated artist work together for a song. Hope they tour together now.
I've seen Mini Mansions open for The Kills before, so I'm pretty sure they've already toured together. Hopefully they do it again!
This song is special. I love the banter between them and the implications: the passion they’re feeling, but will it last..because they’ve felt like this with others. Love the afterglow of the song also.

I first heard you when my friends band Vaudeville opened up for you. You only had the cardboard insert. I was so moved and I followed along this whole time. This music video made me smile so huge so freaking funny and chill and it really reminds me about my experience being in a rock band with friends.
Hey is your band name inspired by the lunar mansions? Where’s the mini come in? Something to do with the decans? I don’t expect you to answer, I feel like I’m on the path to unlock that answer anyway. You guys are amazing and you’ve kept my musical horizons broad. I’m studying music now, I’m a third year undergrad with guitar focus. I love the idea that it feels like the whole world is a keyboard. I want to meet you there.
Why don't they have views? I wish they had the aggressive backing of Major record labels that industry plants have but with complete creative freedom. This stuff is peak catchy pop and it's not getting the attention that peak catchy pop should be getting. I'm not that big of a pop enthusiast myself but I'm sure so many other people would listen to this on repeat.
The only music that's aggressively backed by major labels now is manufactured junk. It's an unfortunate state of affairs. And I'm not what I'd call a big pop fan either, but these guys are just amazing.
